Unwise solution

This refers to the article, ‘Developments on peace’ (July 16) by Malik Muhammad Ashraf. The writer says, “The track record of the PML-N government also shows that it has made conscious and determined efforts to raise the issue at the international level on several occasions…”
Nothing is further from the truth. Most recently, during the Nawaz-Modi meeting in the Russian city Ufa, the joint declaration omitted the Kashmir dispute, while the Mumbai attack featured quite prominently. Can there be a worst diplomatic fiasco than this? The omission has strained our relations with the Kashmiri leadership. Nawaz Sharif it seems lacks conviction and gets easily subdued when meeting world leaders.
