ISLAMABAD: Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) Rana Asad Amin has constituted an audit reforms committee to tackle unethical practices among the rank and file and bring a quantitative improvement in the prestige and image of the department that was badly damaged after the unceremonious removal of ex-auditor general for the first time in the country’s history.
The terms of reference (TORs) of the committee are upgradation of audit competency framework, monitoring system, action plan to enhance the use of technology in audit, proposal to promote forensic audit, special audit, environmental audit and performance audit etc.
The responsibilities of the committee are to propose a plan, restore the overall prestige of the audit department by rooting out corruption and inefficiency in the department, to identify ways and means for implementation of audit reforms in the department and proposals to boost the morale of officers by suggesting a performance-based reward system.
Manak Sher Idrees Tarar, Additional Auditor General, will be the chairperson of the reforms committee while others members are Javaid Jehangir, Additional Auditor General; Jamal Abdul Nasir Usmani, DAG FAO; Syed Imtiaz Hussain Bokhari, DAG Accounting Policy; Ahmed Hussain Ghuman, DAG A&C; Maqbool Ahmed Gondal, DG FAO; Junaid Mushtaq Qureshi, DG Federal Audit; Mian M. Jamil Afaqi, DG Audit Punjab; Javed Iqbal, DG Audit KP; Syed Sajjad Haider, DG Defence Service South Karachi; Rana Shakil Asghar, Director Legal; Ms. Saima Saba, Director IR&C; and Mansoor Azam, Director to AGP.
The committee is expected to finalize recommendations and action plan within three months.
