ISLAMABAD: Remarking in a case of Bahria Town land, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja said Wednesday that instead of recusing himself from the bench, he would resign and go straight home.
Hearing into contempt of court notice issued to senior lawyer Ali Zafar was postponed for two weeks due to unavailability of three-member bench.
However, Justice Khawaja said they would not compromise credibility of the court. He said the applicant has contended that he is partial. “Instead of recusing myself from the bench, I would resign. To resign takes only five minutes. After that I will go straight to home. I will not even go to my chamber,” he said.
Ali Zafar said a two-member bench cannot hear this case as it is set for a three-member bench. He said Aitzaz Ahsan was his lawyer and after he declined to defend him, Hafiz Pirzada will be his lawyer. He said since Pirzada is suffering from some heart problems, hearing should be put off for two weeks.Justice Khawaja said hearing has been put off many times. The court, however, put off the hearing for two weeks.
