LAHORE: Alhamra Arts Council is all set to celebrate Friday as Kashmir Day (today) with zeal and enthusiasm to show solidarity with the people of held Kashmir who are fighting day and night for their freedom.
Lahore Arts Council in this regard is going to hold a two-day long theatre play titled “Aseer-e-Azadi” on Friday (today) based on Kashmiri people’s ongoing freedom struggle.
Ms Mishaal Yasin Malik, wife of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the play. The play is written by Aslam Mughal and Afzal Nadeem and directed by Amir Nawaz. The drama is about freedom movement of a Kashmiri family. In the play there are three people in the house, an old father, his wife and his daughter Mahrukh who is the main character of the story. The cast include Nida Malik, Sarfaraz Ansari, Zohaib Haider, Zaheer Taji, Afzal Nabi, Hafza Tahir, Zeeshan Haider, Mansoor, Imran and Bilal.
Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Ather Ali Khan said the Lahore Arts Council arranged the play to pay tribute to brave Kashmiris’ soldiers. He said according to UN Charter of Human Rights, “Freedom is the basic right of any individual or nation”. This pleasure of freedom can’t be grabbed by any brutal country. On Kashmir Day people of Pakistan salute Kashmiri people for their battle against Indian armed forces, he said.
