The federal government has decided to appoint veteran journalist Azfar Bukhari as an adviser to promote higher education and the official notification in this connection is likely to be issued after Eid holidays.
Bukhari has received various national and international awards, and also been praised by the Sindh Assembly through a unanimously passed resolution to honour his services for the country.
Recently, Bukhari came up with a programme to send thousands of Pakistani students for higher education to various universities across Europe. The provincial governments also showed their keen interest in the programme and backed it.
However, the government wants to officially own and launch the programme and that is why it has been decided to appoint Bukhari as an adviser.
