The population in twin cities celebrated a joyous, cool and calm Eid as from ‘Chand Raat’ to the third day of Eid no untoward incident was reported.
Almost all markets having a number of stalls set up specially for the festive occasion of Eidul Fitr in city and cantonment areas along with those located along relatively smaller link roads remained crowded till ‘Fajr’ prayer on ‘Chand Raat’ and almost all roads particularly in the city areas witnessed heavy traffic. The weather remained pleasant in the evening and night on ‘Chand Raat’ due to rainfall that made the festival more joyous particularly late in the night when the rain stopped.
Apart from Benazir Bhutto Road, the roads leading to markets in Saddar, Tench Bhata, Raja Bazaar, Commercial Market, Banni Chowk and Rawal Road received heavy traffic on ‘Chand Raat’.
After ‘Fajr’ prayers, all graveyards in city and cantonment areas started receiving people who offered ‘fateha’ and recited holy verses from the Quran on the graves of their loved ones on the first day of Eid.
On the first and second day of Eid, episodes of rain spells made weather more pleasant convincing city dwellers to come out to celebrate Eid and to enjoy pleasant weather.
Almost all public parks in town remained heavily crowded on the first and second day of Eid while almost all local restaurants, pan shops, Bar B Q and fast food points in town received greater number of customers particularly from evening till late in the night.
A number of citizens expressed to ‘The News’ that people enjoyed Eid with great zeal because they wanted to get rid of the worries they face throughout the year mainly because of a number of problems and frustrations ranging from power outages to price hike, political instability and bad law and order situation.
No untoward incident was reported in the region from ‘Chand Raat’ till third day of Eid that gives people a fair reason to spent the festive occasion of Eid in peace, pleasure and delight.
