ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will meet the head of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, here in a day or two to formally seal a deal of alliance in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Sherpao’s party was, in a way, thrown out of the ruling alliance in the province on charges of corruption several months back. PTI sources told The News that during his visit to the province the other day, a briefing was given to Imran on the draft of the likely agreement, which would be the second between the two sides in two years.
“Under the broad agreement, Sherpao’s party will get three ministerial slots, besides two posts of advisers and also have two posts of standing committees’ chairmen,” claimed a source in the QWP. Veteran politician’s son Sikandar would get the slot fo the senior minister.
The agreement is expected to be signed in the presence of PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), QWP and Awami Jamhoori Ittehad (AJI) leadership in the federal capital. “JI, QWP and AJI leaders will also sign the agreement besides PTI,” sources pointed out.
The PTI sources said that it was going to be an alliance that could even go into next election. Another development is also on the cards, which would see the AJI being merger with PTI. “AJI, though confined to Swabi, is most likely to be a part of the PTI after Eidul Fitr,” the sources maintained.
