9 booked for solemnising nikah of 2-year-old child

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police registered cases against nine persons for solemnising nikah of two minors as vani in Prova tehsil. Police said that one Javed had contracted love marriage to Zulikha Bibi. A local Panchyat had decided to hand over Zohra Bibi, a two-year old nice of the accused, as vani to Shakil, brother of Zulikha Bibi, who is also three-year old. After the decision of the Panchyat, a local cleric Mehmoodul Hassan solemnised the nikah. The police after being informed of the incident registered cases against Faiz Muhammad, Hashim, Kalo, Nazir, Rehmatullah, Ramazan, Saifullah, Javed and Hafiz Mehmoodul Hassan.
