LAHORE Like all other parts of country, Martyrdom Day (Youm-e-Shahadat) of fourth Caliph of Islam Hazrat Ali (RA) was observed with solemnity and reverence on Thursday amid tight security in the provincial metropolis. Thousands of police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order in which a large population comprising faithful held majalis and took out processions to pay tribute to Hazrat Ali (RA) for his remarkable courage, valour, bravery and wisdom. The Lahore district administration had also deputed a second layer of security along the outskirts of the walled city, the major centre of activity on the Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali, where traditional Tazia Alam procession was taken out from Mubarak Haveli inside Mochi Gate early. The procession, while passing through Imambargah Ghulam Ali Shah, Chowk Nawab Sahab, Mochi Gate, Lal Khoo, Fazal Haveli, Takia Nathay Shah, Koocha Shian, Chuhatta Mufti Baqar, Old Kotwali, Kashmiri Bazaar, Dabbi Bazaar, Sunehri Masjid, Paniwala Talab, Chowk Nogaza, Chowk Tarannum cinema, Chowk Tibbi, Bazaar Hakeeman, Chowk Novelty, Mohalla Jogian, Oonchi Masjid and Bhaati Gate concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah in the evening. On the entire route of the processions, volunteers were present round-the-clock to facilitate the participants. Policemen were also positioned at the rooftops to keep a strict vigilance on the occasion. Scanners were also installed by the local administration an entrance points. The proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Nohas and the description of the remarkable services rendered by Hazrat Ali (RA) for the cause of Islam. The speakers in the processions as well different gatherings held in connection with the Martyrdom Day described Hazrat Ali (RA)’s life as guiding life for the entire Muslim Ummah.
