US healthcare

This refers to the letter, ‘Healthcare – us and them’ (June 21) by Irfan U Khattak. Any criticism of the US healthcare system for being costly and insurance based loses ground once the factor of research for the betterment of healthcare facilities is considered.
The US has a leading science and research-based system from which the rest of the world derives benefits. Such benefits are enormous when the subsidy factor from developed world is also considered.
