A foolproof security plan had been devised for the Youm-e-Ali procession scheduled to be held on the 21st of Ramazan, informed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Dr Jamil Ahmed in a meeting held with Shia ulema, on Thursday.
Thorough checking of those attending the procession as well as a detailed sweep of the route before the procession assembled would be ensured whereas security personnel would be deployed along the route and sharp shooters would be positioned on rooftops of surrounding buildings, informed the DIG.
The mourners would only be allowed to enter through designated entrances while the rest would be blocked by containers and other heavy vehicles.
According to a statement issued by the police department the Shia ulema had expressed satisfaction over the security plan.
The procession would enter the South Zone in the afternoon and would conclude at Iftar at the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah, Kharadar.
