KARACHI: Presenting his analysis in the Geo News programme “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath” on Tuesday, Shahzeb Khanzada said the country was facing far bigger crisis than the crisis of electricity and it was the crisis of powerful political leadership. At a time when the people were going through the misery of extreme scorching weather and power loadshedding, the political leaders were engaged in blame game. “Instead of realising gravity of the prevailing situation, they are attempting to divert the attention from their wrongdoings they are engaged in delivering ruthless speeches. The rulers who are enjoying the power of governing are merely depicting their incapabilities,” he said. Shahzeb pointed out that the extreme hot weather and loadshedding resulted in the deaths of 600 people. In such a situation, the Sindh chief minister appeared on the scene after five days and targeted the Centre, holding it responsible for the extreme weather, the load shedding and the deaths. Similar is the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the chief minister warned the Pesco chief that headquarter of the company would be burnt if the unannounced loadshedding did not end within a week. Shahzeb said such blames and threats of the chief executives of the provinces would not help in lowering the suffering and misery of the helpless masses.Shahzeb said it appeared that the government was making political gains at the cost of the people’s problems. He opined that the hopes of the people of a province were linked with the chief ministers and in such circumstances instead of providing solace to the people they were spitting fire. Reviewing the impediment to the Governor’s Rule in Sindh, Shahzeb Khanzada said if it happened in the present situation, the PPP would find a basis that its government was martyred politically. On the other hand there would be extreme political confrontation as the PPP and MQM would jointly oppose it. Attempt would be made to build pressure against the Governor’s Rule through alliance of the PPP and MQM by holding strikes. While analysing the matter of NGOs, Shahzeb Khanzada said the government was taking steps for registration of the NGOs. On the other hand, the Supreme Court had also sought the record of the NGOs. Khanzada said the government was bringing the NGO to follow the Constitution but it was necessary to review the monetary affairs of the NGOs. He said most the NGOs in Pakistan had not obtained the registration for NTN, while other NGOs, which were registered, had not submitted their monetary statements. There were some NGOs which submitted their monetary statements while they showed their income as zero. He said the government should let the masses know in a transparent manner so that they could know which country’s NGOs were working in the country and whether their functions were transparent or not.
