MULTAN: Additional District and Sessions Judge Bakht Fakhar Behzad on Monday ordered the Multan FIA deputy director to lodge a diamond necklace theft case against former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, conduct an inquiry against him and submit the inquiry report in seven days.
Earlier, senior lawyer Fahim Gill filed a petition before the court against six persons - interior secretary, FIA director general, Punjab FIA director, Multan FIA deputy director, Yousaf Raza Gillani and his wife Fozia Gillani.
The petition stated that the Turkish prime minister’s wife had donated her diamond necklace for Pakistani flood victims. She handed over the necklace to Gillani and his wife. Gillani exceeded his powers and allegedly misappropriated the necklace in violation of rules and regulations. Mr and Mrs Gillani confessed to necklace misappropriation after media highlighted its missing.
The judge has ordered dispatching copies of the petition to the Multan FIA deputy director with the directions to register the petitioner’s complaint, conduct an inquiry and submit his findings before the court by June 29.
