Preparations start for next annual sports calendar
LAHORE: Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has started the preparations for next Annual Sports Calendar programme and Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti chaired an important meeting in this connection at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
Divisional Sports Officers Nadeem Qaiser, Akbar Murad, Masoodul Hasan, Kh Saif ur Rehman, Deputy Directors Shahid Nizami, Tariq Wattoo, Rauf Bajwa and district sports officers also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed various aspects regarding the next version of Annual Sports Calendar. The suitable weather conditions for different games were also considered during the meeting. While addressing the meeting, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti said the competitions of next Annual Sports Calendar will start at tehsil level to trace fresh talent at grassroots level. “Initially, the trials will be held at tehsil level and then the trials process will be conducted at district, division and Punjab level before their respective sports competitions”.
“Punjab’s players suffered a lot due to non-holding of Annual Sports Calendar activities. The Annual Sports Calendar has been revived after eight years period due to extraordinary efforts of Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti and DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar”.
Bhatti said further said that more sports events will be added in the next Annual Sports Calendar programme.
