FPCCI team meets FBR chairman

KARACHI: A delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) called on Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi and discussed various measures and proposals, particularly for enhancement in the number of taxpayers and to increase their confidence level to achieve the set revenue targets, a statement said on Tuesday.

FPCCI President Darood Khan Achakzai apprised the FBR chairman about the misuse of powers by the tax authorities, which is creating trust deficit and the lack of confidence.

Zaidi said now there would be no raid and harassment to the taxpayers due to which the trust and confidence on tax colleting agency has been shaken.

He reiterated the taxpayers will be given due respect and no active taxpayer will be exposed and publicised as non-active or non-filer in case of any delay in payment of tax or on any account. The FBR chief reaffirmed that no bank account will be freezed without prior intimation and notice to bank account holder and the FBR will devise a mechanism, in this regard.

He also said the real estate is fast growing sector of the economy and the FBR will devise various reforms. The tax amnesty scheme is also under process and will be announced soon, he added.
