NAB arrests suspect in Islamabad on graft charges
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday claimed to have arrested a suspect for his alleged involvement in preparing fake register books of town committee projects.
According to a spokesperson for NAB Karachi, Muhammad Yaseen Palijo, son of Abdullah Palijo, was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off in Islamabad. The initial investigation revealed that the suspect was an engineer of Town Committee Sujawal and prepared bogus registers, measurements and books of town committee projects.
Officials of the town committee, in connivance with fake contractors, allegedly embezzled about Rs100 million. They withdrew money from the bank account of the Town Committee Sujawal without getting any work done.
The reference was filed in the accountability court of Hyderabad in May 2016. The suspect would be produced before an accountability court after legal formalities, the spokesperson added.
