With an aim to bring out the historically rich and positive image of Lyari’s culture and folk literature besides also focusing on fine arts and media education, The Lyari Films and Photography School was inaugurated by the Sindh chief minister's co-ordinator for human rights, Nadia Gabol, on Thursday.
A first of its kind institute in the area, the school has been established by a group of art students of Lyari with their own resources striving to counter violence and present a peaceful and creative image of Lyari.
The launch done with much fan fare included a multimedia briefing given to Nadia besides showcasing of short documentaries based on the area’s present predicament.
While addressing the gathering Nadia regretted that Lyari was almost regularly found mentioned among headlines of crime related stories because of a few criminal gangs.
