Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said the government is paying special attention to polio vaccination programme EPI for protecting the mother and child from fatal diseases. He directed that access should be given to every child in tribal areas for completing vaccination course.
He said this while addressing a meeting at the Commissioner Office during his visit to Dera Ghazi Khan, according to a handout issued on Wednesday.
Commissioner Muhammad Saqib Aziz, DCO Nadeem-ur-Rehman, Director Health Dr. Shahid Hussain Bhatti, Principal Medical College Dr. Shamim Hassan, EDO Health Dr. Munawar Abbas, MS Dr. Musa Kaleem, Dr. Jawad Zaka-ud-Din Ghauri, Dr. Husnain Irshad Nohi and other officers attended the meeting.
Kh. Salman Rafiq said that on the directions of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, an effective action was being taken against the adulteration mafia and manufacturing and sale of spurious medicines in the province.
He said the action had also been started against quacks causing hepatitis, AIDS and other diseases. He said the centres doing business of illegal medical stores would be sealed.
Kh. Salman Rafiq checked the permanent transit post for polio set up at Bawata on the border of Punjab-Balochistan and EPI teams and issued necessary instructions.
Director Health and EDO Health as well as officers of District Administration also accompanied him. The adviser health said that complete security should be provided to polio teams and cooperation of administration was essential for addressing their problems.
On the request of residents of Sakhi Sarwar, he directed sending of recommendations for providing best treatment facilities to RHC Sakhi Sarwar, posting of lady medical officer and special allowance including health sector reform allowances for medical staff so that approval of the government could be sought.
He directed provision of containers for employees of inter-provincial check-post Taranman and Sakhi Sarwar post at district Dera Ghazi Khan.
Moreover, Kh. Salman Rafique visited the shrine of prominent saint of Subcontinent Hazrat Sultan known as Sakhi Sarwar.
