All religions emphasise good morals and sound behaviours, such common values of all religions should be focused instead of the difference as this is the ultimate way to disseminate peace in the world, said President International Islamic University (IIU) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.
This he said while delivering his working paper in fifth Congress of World and Traditional Religions held in Astana’s Palace of Peace and Accord.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh’s paper was titled “interfaith harmony, vision and suggestions”.
He was of the view that a few people from a religion with negative agenda must not be interpreted as its representatives, as violence and extremism are forbidden in all religions.
He added that people with such negative attitudes must be dealt in strict manners.
“We must also take measures for the treatment of those who are found involved into such extremist ideas or guilty of entertaining such deviant views; no matter what are their religions, cults, countries, gender and states” he said.
The IIUI president said that Islam is a religion of peace and it has taught its followers to build peaceful relations with the non-Muslims.
The IIUI president, while talking about the teachings of Islam towards other religions said that Islam allowed us to interact with all the present and past cultures on the principle of give and take that would benefit mankind in diverse scientific, cultural, intellectual, informative, technical, hygienic, social and security aspects.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that Islam is also interested in science, reason, innovation and creativity and takes steps to promote and nurture them. He said Islam provides all possible encouragement to the scientists, inventors and those who desire to serve humanity.
