Four development schemes approved

LAHORE: The Punjab government Friday approved four development schemes of different sectors at an estimated cost of Rs5.948 billion.

The approved development schemes included: Sustainable land management programme to combat desertification in Pakistan (Punjab Component) – GEF / UNDP assisted (revised) at the cost of Rs346.68 million, rehabilitation of metalled road from Zain to Bharthi I/C Pile Foundation Bridge over Nullah Sanghar (revised) at the cost of Rs613.703 million, retrofitting of public institutes as a part of World Bank funded Punjab Green Development Programme at the cost of Rs3,811.100 million and establishment of DHQ Hospital, Multan (revised) at the cost of Rs1.177 billion.

transferred: The Punjab government Friday issued notification regarding transfer and posting of following officers. According to the notification, DG Khan Commissioner Tahir Khurshid and Secretary Industries Nadeemur-Rehman have replaced each other. Saleem Azfal has been posted as DC Bahawalnagar vice Sain Allah Ditta who has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD). Fatima Sheikh, Additional Secretary (Development) Primary & Secondary Healthcare, has been promoted to BS-19 and upon such promotion she has been allowed to continue work in the existing post till further orders.

MPA calls on minister: Minority MPA from KP Ravi Kumar Friday called on Punjab Minister for Human Rights & Minority Affairs Ijaz Alam Augustine. They discussed issues of minorities and benefits of upcoming local system. Both expressed satisfaction over the initiatives taken by the government to ensure the human rights in the country and also pledged to work together to resolve the issues of minorities at provincial level.

Ijaz said Prime Minister Imran Khan had allowed implementation of the new system. The new system in Punjab would ensure more basic facilities. Ravi hoped the new system would be more beneficial as compared to the past.
