Hanif Abbasi shifted back to jail, likely to be freed today
LAHORE: PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi whom Lahore High Court allowed release on bail, was shifted back to Kot Lakhpat Jail on Friday from Shaikh Zayed Hospital, where he was under treatment for heart ailment.
One of the key PML-N leaders Hanif Abbasi is likely to be released from the jail today (Saturday) after completion of legal procedure. Abbasi was sentenced to life imprisonment by anti-narcotics court in illegal import of ephedrine quota just three days before the general elections eight months ago. Abbasi has been under treatment at the CCU of Shaikh Zayed Hospital for complaints of heart and kidney pain.
According to doctors, Hanif Abbasi’s electrocardiogram showed variations, which was a serious issue. Sometimes back, doctors placed a stent during his angioplasty at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. Lahore High Court allowed him bail after his lawyer argued that seven accused in the case were acquitted due to lack of evidence but he was being politically victimised.
