Over 7,000 happy families turned up at the parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) of the Roots Millennium Schools in the twin cities and nationwide, says a press release.
The theme of these meetings was 'Mathematics in Real Life'. The theme was decided keeping in mind the importance of mathematics in daily life. Mathematics is the one skill you need to master in your life, even if it is the only one, you will at least be able to live without being cheated, robbed or abused. You see, without mathematics we just cannot live or survive. We need math in our everyday lives. Just doing the basic essentials is dependent on your ability to do math.
The feedback given by the parents was very positive and they appreciated Roots Millennium Schools' initiatives such as Chinese and German language classes, robotics programme, Intel & RMS joint ICT curriculum, citizenship & entrepreneurship classes, green school initiative, sport activities and theme based PTMs.
Roots Millennium Schools CEO Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq, TI, while addressing parents, stated that parent-teacher meetings are an opportunity to establish better communication between parents and teachers. Hence, it is important to attend parent-teacher meetings to refine child's individual learning plan and make sure the roles of teacher, student and parents are clear, specific and designed to bring out the best in every child. All scientific education which does not commence with mathematics is said to be defective at its foundation. Neglect of mathematics works injury to all knowledge.
Despite extremely hot weather, parents made it a point to attend the parent-teacher meetings. One of the parents, who attended the PTM, said that it went better than she expected. “The teaching staff did an excellent job of preparing student folders, planning for grade-specific activities and presenting the data. I appreciate their hard work,” she said.
Parents have an important role when it comes to their child's academic success. It has been established that parents are the top educators in their child's life. While teachers are important as well, the child will benefit more if there is a collaboration that involves regular communication. Teachers have the capability to express the skills and the concepts that are being introduced in the classroom so that parents may reinforce them at home through an assortment of learning activities.
The Roots Millennium School’s mission is to provide each student the opportunity to achieve his-her academic and personal dream within an international educational environment that encourages leadership, character, community service, actively embraces cultural diversity, acknowledges and accommodates the individual needs of students. An effective parent-teacher partnership can make a significant difference in child's education, and the start of a new term is an ideal time to refocus this partnership. A parent's well-planned involvement in a child's education can make a big difference. A parent-teacher conference is a great opportunity to start or continue ongoing conversations with the child's teacher, learn how to help the kids do their best in school and let them know that what goes on in school will be shared at home. Children who know that their parent and their teacher communicate often have been found to perform better academically. They have also been found to exhibit more appropriate behaviour in the classroom setting.
