Minor girl falls to death in Lyari

A minor girl died after she apparently fell off a multi-storey building in the Lyari neighbourhood on Wednesday.

Police officials said that the incident occurred at a residential building located on Street No 7, Nayabad, within the jurisdiction of the Kalri police station. Reacting to the information, volunteers from welfare organisations reached the site.

A police team also arrived at the site to investigate the incident. Police officials said that the deceased girl was identified as seven-year-old Sawera, daughter of Asif, who apparently fell from the sixth floor of the building.

She was critically injured and died on her way to Civil Hospital, Karachi. According to the police, the girl’s death appears to be an accident while further investigations are under way.

Mysterious death

A man, who was reported to be an employee of an intelligence agency, was found dead at his house located in Azam Town within the limits of the Mehmoodabad police station.

The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Amir Younus. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family for burial.

Mehmoodabad SHO Ejaz said the deceased worked for an intelligence agency and the police found a licensed pistol and an empty shell of a bullet near the body. The officer said it appeared that the victim committed suicide by shooting himself, however, the police were investigating the death from various angles.
