SNGPL removes 730 illegal connections in KP

The task force of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has disconnected 730 illegal connections in Karak and other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The SNGPL has constituted special task force against gas pilferage in various districts, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.

The federal minister for petroleum, secretary petroleum and managing director, SNGPL are monitoring the progress of these activities against gas pilferage across the province.

“During operations in Karak and Kohat, three plaster factories and six commercial gas connections of power generating units and hotels have been disconnected in Banda Daud Shah and Zanaka areas. Cases have also been lodged in this regard,” SNGPL General Manager Saqib Arbab said.

He added that the police arrested the accused, including Shakeel, Naqeebullah and Khurshid Khattak.

The official said the company disconnected 6,150 feet illegal gas pipeline and 730 illegal gas connections in Karak.

Several raids have been conducted in various parts of Karak and Kohat districts, including Banda Daud Shah, Lachi, Zanaka, Tarkha Koi and Jehangiri where 1,150 illegal gas connections taken from main lines were disconnected.

The official said raids were conducted in other parts of the province like Peshawar, Charsadda and Bannu, where 12 illegal commercial gas connections of power generation units, hotels and tandoors have been disconnected.

During raids in various areas of Peshawar like Bazidkhel, Ahmadkhel, Marozai on Kohat Road, Regi, Palosai, Tehkal, Molazai, Urmar, Phandu, Surezai, areas on the Charsadda Road, the company disconnected 3,850 feet illegal gas pipeline, 311 illegal gas connections, 151 tampered gas meters and 31 fake meters.

In seven cases, FIRs were lodged against gas pilferers while 31 other applications were submitted for lodging cases and arresting the culprits.
