CPSP meets Chinese medical professionals
Islamabad: The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is working on arranging multiple areas of cooperation with China Medical University particularly on post graduate education system.
Negotiations of the CPSP delegates are on way with a five-member team of the China Medical University and we are in a process of understanding each other’s post graduate level education system, said elected councillor and Regional Director of CPSP Islamabad/Rawalpindi Chapter Professor Muhammad Shoaib Shafi while talking to ‘The News’.
Dr. Shoaib who is Director General International Relations of the CPSP added the CPSP is working out arrangements for training of Pakistani doctors at postgraduate level in modern procedural methods and Chinese have expressed willingness to establish a model postgraduate teaching hospital in Kala Shah Kaku in Lahore.
From CPSP, President CPSP Zafarullah Chaudhry, Gen Mazhar Ishaq, Professor Abrar Ashraf, Professor Khalid Ashrafi, Professor Irshad Secretary CPSP and Dr. Shareef Chief Controller CPSP participated in the meeting with the Chinese team, he said. He added that Gen Mazhar who is a renowned Vitro Z Retinal surgeon highlighted avenues of post fellowship in Opthalmology facilities for CPSP fellows.
It is important that the CPSP is the highest degree awarding institution in Pakistan on post-graduate medical education in over 70 disciplines. It was established 57 years back under the act of parliament. The CPSP is an autonomous body that covers nearly 95 per cent of the total specialists in medical profession in Pakistan.
After meeting with the CPSP delegates, Professor Jiang Zhu of China Medical University presented the University souvenir to Professor Shoaib Shafi.
