Senate body visits Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: The Senate Secretariat Functional Committee on Less Developed Areas visited the district on Thursday to interact with the general public so as to assess problems in different sectors and prepare recommendations to federal government and concerned ministries for the solution of those problems.Before holding a session with area people and elders, Deputy Commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir briefed the committee headed by Chairman Senator Usman Kakar and comprised of Senator Sardar Shafiq Tareen and Senator Haji Momin Afridi about different projects and performance of government departments.

The issues and problems faced by the residents of the district and

merged tribal subdivision in education, health, communication, agriculture, power supply, natural gas, drinking water, public health and other sectors were also discussed on the occasion.

Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman, MNAs, Maulana Muhammad Anwar and Mufti Abdul Shakoor, MPA Anwar Hayat Khan, former MNA Naseer Muhammad Khan, area elders and heads of government departments were in attendance.

The committee was told that around 130 out of 209 sanctioned posts of doctors in public sector hospitals and health centres were vacant in the district while the merged tribal subdivision had no rural health centre or Category D type hospital at all.

It was also informed at the briefing that around 16 health centres lacked technicians of expanded programme on immunisation and a basic health unit located in Dabak area had no sanctioned posts of doctors.
