INGOs can’t be allowed to push agendas

Islamabad : Minister of State for Interior Shaheryar Khan Afridi has said that Pakistan would not allow any International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) to operate in such a manner that would accomplish any hidden agendas in the name of social development, which is against the constitution of Pakistan and the well-being of our nation.

Afridi was speaking at a round table organised by Centre for Peace and Security Development Studies in collaboration with the Dadabhoy Foundation. The round table was held in honour of the delegation of the European Union to Pakistan and Ambassadors and High Commissioners of European countries in Islamabad.

Afridi also said that Pakistan has restructured and changed regulatory process for I-NGO’s to operate in the country. He said that Pakistan will defend its home land at any cost. To improve its security, he said that Pakistan is working on fencing its 909 km border with Iran as well which will complete soon. He said Pakistan is fully committed to maintain religious harmony. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered to take strict action against the culprits who are involved in the forced conversions of two Hindu girls in Sindh.

European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Jean-Francois Cautain, in his key address, said that EU-Pakistan strategic agreement will help mutual trade between Pakistan and Europe. “This will help Pakistani exports to increase as well.”

Chief Executive Officer, DADABHOY Foundation, Habibullah Dadabhoy said that, The Dadabhoy Foundation is a responsible corporate and social citizen, which is always ready to contribute in academic, research work and policy making required for bilateral corporation amongst nations of the world.

Executive Director, Centre for Peace Security and Developmental Studies (CPSD), Umer Khan elaborated on the current and upcoming projects of CPSD. He particularly emphasized the countering violent extremism projects of CPSD.
