MULTAN: Lawyers are observing a complete strike in Multan and all southern Punjab districts on Thursday (today)in connection with countrywide protest on the call of Pakistan Bar Council.
Talking to reporters, Multan High Court Bar Association president Malik Haider Usman said lawyers would not appear before any court. He said lawyers were observing strike against creation of model courts, new judicial policy and decisions of National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC). He said the PBC had demanded bringing 22-A and 22-B cases under the jurisdiction of courts instead of police. He said the Chief Justice of Supreme Court had promised on March 28 of convening a meeting on this regard soon, but nothing concrete happened that resulted in unrest among the whole legal fraternity.
