Seven injured in clash with Afghan tribe near border
WANA: Seven people were injured in an armed clash between the members of the Sulimankhel tribe and Afghan Kharoti tribe at Zarmailan area in Toykhula tehsil near the Pak-Afghan border in South Waziristan district, official sources said on Tuesday.
Reports said that the members of the Afghan Kharoti tribe took up positions at a hilltop in Zarmailan area and started firing at the local population on the Pakistan side. In retaliation, a lashkar of Sulimankhel tribe attacked and repulsed them. The Kharoti tribe left behind weapons and ammunition and retreated. The Sulimankhel tribe lashkar was headed by Malik Ibrahim Jalalkhel, Gulbahar Khan Sulimankhel and other local elders.
The district administration also confirmed the incident and said that a team had been sent to the area to take stock of the situation as it was a far-flung area. It was learnt that seven members of the Kharoti tribe were injured in the clash.
