Locals stage demonstration against sugar mills

MUZAFFARGARH: Locals Tuesday staged a demonstration against the management of a local sugar mills for discharging hazardous waste and not adopting safety measures.
The protesters said the sugar mills waste was creating serious troubles for them and was affecting their health.
They said its waste was also affecting agro-economy of theirs and had deteriorated environment and subsoil water. The protesters said the waste had resulted in rise of water borne diseases in the district and eruption of hazardous gases.
APCA REJECTS BUDGET: All Pakistan Clerk Association (APCA) and other worker unions Tuesday rejected the budget proposal for the public servants and an increase of merely 7.5 per cent in their salaries.
The clerks demanded 50 per cent increase in their salaries. The APCA held a demonstration outside the District Coordination Officer and raised slogans.
The demonstration was led by Wazir Khan Dasti, Shakir Viq, Altaf Hussain, Mumtaz Kharal, Sardar Raza Khan Magasi.
