Imad felicitated on being named Pak captain

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA), Diamond Club and local cricket followers expressed their happiness after Imad Wasim was handed the Pakistan team captaincy for the fourth ODI against Australia in Dubai on Friday.

Imad became the first player from the twin cities to lead the national team.

Islamabad Regional Cricket Association President Shakil Shaikh congratulated Imad, saying in a tweet: Heartiest Congrats to Syed Imad Wasim for captaining Pakistan in 4th ODI against Aussie. He is a top class all rounder with high credentials. Islamabad and Diamond Cricket Club, the best club in Pakistan, feel honoured. Wishing him all the best.”

Faisal Suleman, a local cricket enthusiast, called Imad pride of Islamabad and Pakistan. “He captained Pakistan juniors and now he has captained the national team. He is a talented all-rounder who has the ability to lead Pakistan in limited-overs in future,” he said.

Lashing Club’s leading all-rounder Tehseen Ahmad said Imad is the success story of Islamabad cricket. “He definitely is the product of Islamabad club cricket that also produced other international cricketers including former all-rounder Azhar Mehmood. We pray for Imad’s success as captain,” he said.

Moeid Shaikh, who runs the Diamond Cricket Academy, also praised Imad as a cricketer and human being. “He is a top class cricketer and a product of Diamond Club.”
