FIA moves against persons, parties for campaign against MBS visit

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s Cybercrime Wing has inquiries against persons and parties for a “targeted” social media campaign against the visit of Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman to Pakistan.

An official letter says: A targeted social media campaign was planned/ executed against the visit during which few social media activists and groups remained particularly consistent/ active till the very last day of the visit.”

Under the directions of Ministry of Interior the FIA has started inquiries against Matiullah Jan, Murtaza Solangi, Azaz Syed, Ammar Masood, Umer Cheema and Ahmed Waqas Goraya (Netherlands) for displaying the picture of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khoshogi on their social media profile DPs which conveyed a very disrespectful message to the visiting dignity/ guest.

While, Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), Imamia Students Organisation (ISO), Hizb-ul-Tahrir Pak, and Tameer-e-Watan Party (Islamabad) are being proceeded against for members of these groups/ parties were found most active on social media against Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman’s visit to Pakistan.
