Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered
HANGU: The security forces in two separate actions recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives in lower and central parts of Orakzai tribal district on Thursday.
Taking action on intelligence-based information, the personnel of Orakzai Scouts in the first action seized arms, ammunition, hand-grenades and explosives that were dumped in Chappar Mashti area of Central Orakzai.
Official sources said that the militants had dumped the weapons and explosives, including 21 RPG-7 shells, 34 fuses, two barrels of 12.7 guns and a box full of live bullets of heavy machine gun. In another action, the personnel raided a secret place in Goeen area where the militants had concealed the weapons. The weapons recovered included three missiles, four rocket shells, 85 cartridges of machine gun. The sources said that militants had dumped the weapons, which were later to be used in sabotage acts. However, they said, the security forces foiled their ulterior motives and saved the area from destruction and human loss.
