Parents of kite twine victim given Rs500,000 cheque

LAHORE: The family of Muhammad Waqas of Faisalabad, who died due to kite twine, called on Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office here Thursday.

The chief minister extended sympathies to the bereaved family and presented a cheque for Rs500,000 to the victim’s parents. He announced providing a government job to the brother of late Muhammad Waqas and said that the Punjab government would also provide family a house in Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme. I am deeply saddened over the tragic death of Muhammad Waqas and the government will provide the family all possible assistance. Your family will not be left alone, he added.

Usman Buzdar said that strict instructions had been issued to ensure implementation of the law banning the kite-flying and orders have been issued regarding crackdown on the elements involved in chemical twine business. He made it clear that the game causing the death of innocent people was intolerable. It may be added here that the chief minister took notice of this incident that occurred in Rahmania Road area of Faisalabad and SHO was suspended for showing negligence. Late Muhammad Waqas was the 3rd Year student and used to earn the livelihood by part-time rickshaw driving.
