Cricket, come back

March 28, 2019

Almost 10 years have passed since we lost the privilege of hosting international cricket teams following the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore. In this time period, the Zimbabwean, Sri Lankan and the World XI teams have briefly visited Pakistan to play the game as a gesture of goodwill. The Pakistan Cricket Board has now successfully organised the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League in the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, proving that our homeland is safe for international players. The PCB should now extend the invitation to more cricket teams with the insistence that they play Test matches as well. Greenshirt fans are eager to watch their heroes play different variants of the sport on their home ground.

The PCB must also insist that the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council play their roles in bringing full-fledged international cricket back to our soil. I hope the day is not far when all international cricket teams will be visiting Pakistan.
