10 LHWs sacked in Lower Dir
TIMERGARA: The District Health Officer (DHO) on Tuesday terminated the services of 10 Lady Health Workers (LHWs) and issued show-cause notices to four area in-charge for negligence in performing polio duty.
The action was taken in the light of the directives of the Lower Dir deputy commissioner. According to a notification issued from the office of DHO of Lower Dir, the services of the employees were terminated on account of absence from polio duty without any good reason which caused the department immense hardships in arranging other staff to replace them.
"Action was taken against workers of the Health Department for showing no interest in polio campaign which was declared a national emergency," DHO Shaukat Ali said. The official added a specific number of women from the Health Department, besides other departments, were engaged in the polio campaign with a view to reach every house and to vaccinate every child. He said the negligence on part of government employees won't be tolerated during the polio campaign to be continued till March 28.
