FAISALABAD: The surveillance teams of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has detected 927 electricity theft cases during an operation in all four circles of Faisalabad region.
According to spokesman for Fesco Tahir Mehmood, these raids were conducted under the orders of Fesco CEO Mujahid Islam. He told that 1,795,000 electricity units detected was reported. He said that cases were registered against 250 electricity pilferers in different police stations.
The spokesman told that out of these power theft cases, 603 electricity pilferers were held in the first circle who stole 931,067 electricity units while 59 power thieves were caught in the second circle and out of these 45 pilferers were booked under the new Amended Electricity Act. As many as 140 power thieves were detected in the Fesco Jhang Circle and a sum of Rs 333,882 were recovered from them while in Sargodha circle, 125 electricity pilferers were held by the checking teams and Rs 3,558,598 fine was imposed on these power pilferers, he continued. A sum of Rs 2,624,090 recovered from these electricity thieves, he added.
