Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has hosted a dinner in honour of Sindh’s officers for holding successful PSL matches in Karachi.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, Adviser to CM on Information Murtaza Wahab, Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ahmed Shelwani, Air Vice Marshal Ahsan Rafique, Vice Admiral Asif Khaliq, IGP Sindh Dr Kaleem Imam, the information secretary and other officers attended the dinner reception at the Hardley House, the official Residence of the chief secretary of the province.
In his welcoming speech, Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said that it was a great privilege for him to host this momentous ceremony in recognition of the services of the officers and staff who made the Pakistan Super League 2019 a success.
He further stated that when the decision to host eight matches of the PSL 2019 was taken, there was a little time for the planning and logistics arrangements. However, on the directives of the chief minister, all the relevant administrative departments -- home, local government, Karachi administration, the provincial police, Rangers and the armed forces -- worked together to make the arrangements and conducted the PSL in a very safe and secure environment. “Today is a Special Day for the Pakistan’s Cricket as We Won the World Cup 1992 on 25 March, there couldn’t be better day to for this ceremony”, added the Chief Secretary.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shah congratulated all stakeholders, including the Karachi administration, the local government, the Sindh Police, the Pakistan Army, the Rangers and the intelligence agencies, which made the PSL successful.
He further stated that holding eight matches of the PSL in Karachi was a challenge for the provincial government when other cities were not able to hold those matches due to logistic and other issues. The Sindh government accepted the challenge and made all arrangements in a very short period of time, he noted.
The chief minister vowed to hold PSL matches in Hyderabad next year. He stated that his government had created a conducive environment in the city for international matches as per the SOP of international cricket.
Shah thanked all officers concerned for their efforts and dedication to conducting the PSL 2019 matches in a befitting manner. Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani also spoke during the ceremony.
