Federal Areas outplay Punjab in Disabled T20 Cricket
KARACHI: Defending champions Federal Areas and Balochistan romped to impressive victories on the opening day of the 8th NBP Disabled T20 Pentangular Cup 2019 here at the NBP Sports Complex on Monday.
In the first game Federal Areas defeated Punjab convincingly by eight wickets. Jehanzeb Tiwana blasted a solid unbeaten 40-ball 80 with 11 fours to enable Federal Areas achieve the 149-run target in the 15th over after losing just two wickets.
Tiwana dominated a 123-run third wicket unbroken partnership with Hamza Mehmood who belted 34 not out, having smacked four fours from 31 deliveries. Left-arm quick Mohammad Haris got 2-28.
Earlier, Punjab were bowled out for 148 with Wajid Alam top-scoring 71 which came off 48 balls and having featured eight fours and four sixes. Umar Farooq made 29-ball 37 with one four and one six. Spinner Gohar Ali was the pick of the bowlers with 3-19. Tiwana claimed 2-29 with his off-breakers.
Meanwhile in the second high-scoring outing at the same venue Balochistan tamed Sindh by five wickets to take a fine start to the five-team event. Sindh posted 203-3 with Mohammad Aslam hitting 78 from 42 balls with eight fours and four sixes. Altaf Ahmed chipped in with a 51-ball 65 with eight fours and one six.
The duo added 156 for the opening stand. Adil Abbasi got 2-25. Balochistan achieved the target off the last ball for the loss of five wickets thanks to excellent century from Adil Abbasi who made 118.
Adil hit 12 fours and three sixes in his rapid 59-ball knock. He added 161 for the opening partnership with Matloob Qureshi who chipped in with a 48-ball 52. Abdul Basit got 2 wickets for 34.
