SHARJAH: Aaron Finch’s unbeatable 155 runs innings scripted an eight-wicket win for Australia in the second ODI against Pakistan with a comfortable chase of 285 runs on Sunday.
The Australian team is 2-0 up against the Pakistan side led by Shoaib Malik, reported Geo News.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan’s 115 runs off 126 balls went in vain as the Aussies chased the score in 47.5 overs. The wicketkeeper was well assisted by skipper Shoaib Malik with his 60 off 61. Opener Usman Khawaja scored 88 runs and Glen Maxwell departed on 19 after a run-out.
Meanwhile, for Pakistan, spinner Yasir Shah picked one wicket in the match.
Pakistan, who rested six of their key players including regular skipper Sarfraz Ahmed in order to keep them fresh for the World Cup starting in UK from May 30, had a poor outing against Australia, who are on a roll after their win in India earlier this month.
Aaron Finch’s 116 off 135 balls helped Australia overhaul the 281-run target in 49 overs on a flat Sharjah stadium pitch.
Finch´s match-winning knock overshadowed Haris Sohail´s maiden ODI hundred (101 not out) which helped Pakistan to 280-5 in their 50 overs. The third match will be played in Abu Dhabi (March 27) and the last two in Dubai (March 29 and 31).
