14 personalities receive civil awards at Governor’s House

LAHORE : Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar gave away civil awards to 14 personalities at Governor’s House on Pakistan Day on behalf of the President of Pakistan.

Six people were awarded Pride of Performance, six Sitara-e-Imtiaz and two were awarded Tamgha e Imtiaz.

Dr Pervaiz Chaudhry, Professor (r) Muhammad Latif, Muhammad Imran Munir, Babra Shareef and Khwaja Masood were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Professor Ambreen Javed, Iftikhar Thakur, Bashir Ahmed Hassan, Nasir Adeeb, Muhammad Inam Butt and Muhammad Aman Ullah Khan were awarded Pride of Performance. Dr Mazhar Iqbal and Dr Shehbaz Alam was awarded Sitara-e Imtiaz.

Earlier, Pakistan Youth Council and Lahore College for Women University made a world record of longest Pakistani flag by waving 400 metre long and five metre wide flag at Governor’s House. Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar, his wife Perveen Sarwar, Pakistan Youth Council Vice Chairman Ubaidur Rehman and hundreds of people who made the longest-ever Pakistani flag were present at the ceremony. The previous record of 205 metre long Pakistani flag was broken. The Punjab governor greeted the Participants and whole nation on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

He said the government was committed to ridding the nation of corruption, bad governance and injustice. He said those who plundered the national wealth were not friends but enemies of Pakistan. He said the nation saluted the people who made sacrifices for Pakistan and defended the motherland. He said the people of Pakistan would keep supporting Kashmiris’ freedom struggle. He said that Pakistan was making progress by leaps and bounds under the leadership of Imran Khan. He said the nation pledged on Pakistan Day to keep working to strengthen the federation of Pakistan. “We are translating the slogan of "Do Nahi Aik Pakistan” into reality. We are making Pakistan the manifestation of the vision of Quid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.”

Overseas Pakistan Commission Vice-Chairman Waseem Ramay said world record of making the longest Pakistani flag was manifestation of the fact that people of Pakistan had utmost love for Pakistani nationalism. “We have to collectively work for strengthening the country, he added.

Punjab police

celebrate Pakistan Day: Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour across all Punjab Police formations following the directions of Inspector General of Police Amjad Javed Saleemi.

Special ceremonies were held in the police lines of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan.

The families of martyrs attended the ceremonies as special guests.

The IG acknowledged the efforts of the officers and officials for ensuring foolproof security arrangements at the ceremonies held on Pakistan Day across all districts of Punjab.

He stated the officers and officials of Punjab Police would continue to perform their duties with dedication and commitment. The police would foil the heinous designs of anti-social and criminal elements, he added.

In his message issued for the police force, the IG said that owing to the meticulously planned security strategy, the citizens partook without any fear in different ceremonies held on Pakistan Day.

It depicts the fact that Punjab police are alert and ready to protect the lives and properties of the public, he added.

He said, “We should renew our pledge on March 23 to stand united against terrorism and extremism and contribute to the progress and prosperity of Pakistan as envisaged by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

All formations of Punjab Police celebrated Pakistan Day with national spirit and renewed the pledge to protect the motherland at every cost.

After flag hoisting events in the police lines, contingents of police held parades. The regional and district police officers laid floral wreaths on the martyrs’ monuments and prayed for them.

The families of police martyrs, MPAs, district administration, lawyers, teachers, members of civil society and students also attended the ceremonies.

The students sang national songs and performed tableaus.

The speakers expressed their patriotic feelings and love for the motherland. Police teams visited the families of martyred police officials and presented them flowers and gifts.

Punjab Police also ensured foolproof security to the rallies and other public events held regarding Pakistan Day. Special attention was also paid to ensure security at educational institutes, parks, mosques and minorities’ worship places, including Gurdawaras and churches.
