Regional heads send written suggestions to PCB task force
KARACHI: Majority of regional associations' presidents have sent written proposals to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) task force on the issue of domestic structure, 'The News' has learnt.
This reporter has copies of the proposals sent by these associations. They have rejected the proposed merger of departments and regions.
The president of a regional association, requesting anonymity, said that the current setup is producing good results and it should be allowed to continue smoothly.
He said there should be a system of first class cricket under which departments should have a tournament separate from that of the regions.
He added that all regions should play national one-day and T20 tournaments.
He said that all regions should be allowed to work independently, under the PCB constitution.
He said the discretion of PCB should be minimised in regional teams’ selection and appointment of coaches.
The presidents of regions have said they expected their suggestions to be considered positively as they are the representatives of players and clubs.
KCCA president Nadeem Omar, who did not attend the meeting with PCB task force, could not be reached despite several calls.
