Down payment cut to 10pc for housing scheme
LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed has said that on the special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, down payment for the houses under Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme has been reduced from 20 per cent to 10 per cent.
He stated this while addressing a ceremony held in connection with the inspection of the site of Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme at Lodhran on Friday. He said Lodhran had also been included in the first phase of the scheme.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan would inaugurate Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme in Lodhran. Arrangements are being made to give interest-free Qarz-e-Hasna of Rs0.5 million to the low-income segments of society for construction of their houses. He maintained that construction of three hundred thousand houses would be started this year. He said that two per cent quota would be allocated for the journalists in the scheme. He said the PTI government was implementing a comprehensive project for providing shelter to the low-income segment of society. Directions have been issued to the department concerned in this regard, he added.
Seminar: Punjab University (PU) Institute of Languages and Linguistics (ILL) in collaboration with the Russian Centre for Science & Culture organised one-day seminar on scholarship programme at Al-Raazi Hall, New Campus.

Dr Saleem Mazhar said it was the need of the hour to have partnership with top raked universities of Russia in order to train Pakistani students in various fields of science like coal sciences, medical sciences and projects about gas, oil and petroleum, energy, national and international languages, physics and nuclear physics etc. Mr Adnrey shared his views about the importance of the scholarship programme for students and also faculty exchange programme which, he said, would enhance the good cultural and scientific relations between Russian and Pakistan.

transferred: Lahore DIG Operations Muhammad Waqas Nazir has issued orders of transfers and postings amongst the upper and lower subordinates of Lahore Police on administrative grounds. As many as 232 police officials were transferred and posted. 16 sub-inspectors, 17 ASIs, 29 head constables, 161 constables and nine lady constables were transferred.
The DIG operations said the transfers were made as per policy of the department.
