Two female judges appointed in UAE courts

ABU DHABI: Two women have been appointed as the first female judges of United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to the official news agency WAM. The UAE President Khalifa Al-Nahyan issued the federal decree appointing two female judges at the Federal Judiciary. The new judges Khadeeja Khamis Khalifa Al Malas and Salamah Rashid Salem Al Ketbi are the first two Emirati women to hold judicial positions in the UAE. Khadija Khamis Al-Malas has been appointed as an appeals judge and Salama Rashid Al-Ketbi as First Instance Court Judge. This latest appointment reflects the UAE government's stance to ensure that women are empowered in their line of work, playing an integral role in the development and progress of nation.
