College holds Pakistan Day celebrations

Rawalpindi : A weeklong ‘Pakistan day’ celebrations began at Govt. Viqar-un-Nisa Postgraduate College, here on Tuesday under the patronage of Principal Professor Dr. Saira Mufti.

The theme for Pakistan Day celebrations was ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’, in accordance with which a plantation activity, cleanliness activity and an awareness march was organised in the college. Outdoor activities comprised of tree plantation campaign based on one student one tree. 500 saplings were provided by forest department for this purpose. These saplings were of fruit trees, pine, bottle-brush, siri, sukh chain and other native plants. The guests and students walked together with the college band the college Auditorium. Student consisted of cleanliness committee, girl guides, sports and various college team and student band also participated. The programme following the outdoor activities started with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran followed by the presentation of ‘Naat’ (Peace Be upon Him).

The Chief guest of the programme was ADCG Rawalpindi, Maleeha Jamal. The guests of honor were Director Education (Colleges) Rawalpindi, Professor Dr. Jahanzeb Khan and Deputy Director (Colleges) Rawalpindi Sher Ahmed Satti. National anthem was played with a video documentary was shown which highlighted the importance of 23rd March, 1940 in the history of sub-continent and in the creation of our homeland Pakistan. A presentation on the importance of keeping the environment clean was given by Professor Gul-e-Nasreen, the focal person of ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ programme at the college.

The guest of honor, Director Education Colleges, Rawalpindi Professor Dr. Jahanzeb Khan also addressed the audience and highlighted the historical significance of 23rd March, 1940.
