LAHORE: Peoples Commission for Minorities’ Rights (PCMR) in collaboration with the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) organised a three-day training workshop on human rights advocacy, fact-finding and reporting.

Around 24 lawyers, journalists and independent rights-based activists from Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were trained in the theory, law and practice of human rights with a particular view to learning investigative, fact-findings, advocacy and lobbying skills relevant to the work of human rights professionals.

Trainers included prominent academic and civil society representatives including Hussain Naqi, Ali Qazalbash, Haroon Baloch and Peter Jacob. Participants were also assigned tasks to identify, investigate and report human rights violations, especially instances of violence or discrimination affecting minority citizens within their respective districts. Authentic information produced therewith is expected to contribute to monitoring of local and international laws affecting the status of minority citizens and communities in Pakistan.
