Money laundering case: NAB asked to submit complete record

ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court (AC) registrar on Monday returned the record against former president Asif Ali Zardari in fake bank accounts and money laundering case to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), as record was incomplete.

The accountability Court registrar advised the NAB to submit the complete record and in sequence. The Karachi Banking court transferred the fake bank account and mega money laundering case against former president Asif Ali Zardari to the accountability court, Islamabad. The FIA submitted record against the Omni Group Chief Financial Officer Aslam Masood and others in the presence of NAB officials.

After scanning the record, the accountability court registrar raised objections that the record was incomplete and not in proper order. The accountability court registrar handed over all the record of fake bank account and mega money laundering case to NAB officials and advised them to submit it again.

Meanwhile, Accountability Court, Islamabad, granted 10-day physical remand of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Land Department Director Najam Zaman and Project Director Hassan Memon in a fake bank account case and handed them over the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Both accused are facing charges of illegal allotting plots in the Clifton area. Accountability Court judge Muhammad Bashir resumed the hearing into the fake bank account case.

During the hearing, one of the accused Najam Zaman's wife said that she wanted to give homemade meal to her husband during the custody. To this, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir asked the accused’s wife who would be responsible if she mixed poison in his food. The judge further said he could only allow meeting the accused but homemade food was not allowed during custody. In the fake bank account case, three accused including Aftab Memon, Muhammad Shabir and Abdul Jabbar are already in the custody of the NAB till March 21 on Physical remand.
