PU teachers write to LDA over land

LAHORE
Punjab University’s Academic Staff Association (PU-ASA) and the PU Land Management Committee have sent letters to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) against the alleged inclusion of PU Employees Housing Society’s (Town-I) land in the Metro Orange train project.
According to a press release PU-ASA President Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam and Secretary Mehboob Hussain met with various teachers’ delegations and said ASA was holding protest demonstrations and the university’s land would not be given to the government at any cost. PU-ASA had already pointed out alternative land to the government for the project, they added.
Meanwhile, Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) President Prof Naimatullah Leghari, in a statement, said the government should look for alternative land for the project. He said universities’ teachers from all over Pakistan were with the teachers of Punjab University and they would provide their all-out support to the teachers of PU.
