FIH sends Pakistan issue to disciplinary committee
KARACHI: FIH's executive board has sent the issue of Pakistan's failure to participate in its Pro League to its disciplinary committee after some members raised questions about the country's commitment.
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary Shahbaz Ahmed defended Pakistan's case at the board meeting which was held in Lausanne on Friday. He informed the executive board members that Pakistan could not participate in the FIH Pro League because of shortage of funds .
He said in the meeting that Pakistan had served the game of hockey a lot, it had won the World Cup four times and Olympics thrice, so penalising it would be a great loss for the game.
Sources said that various countries' federations urged the FIH executive board not to ban Pakistan's participation in international events.
