The act of setting at least 200 Muslim homes on fire in Meerut, India, was masqueraded as an anti-encroachment drive. But there was more to it. Ironically, instead of taking action against culprits involved in starting the fire, the police filed an FIR against unknown men and arrested around six Muslim men. Following the February 14 Pulwama incidents, attacks on Kashmiris and Muslims in India have increased drastically.
There is no denying that the Modi-led government in India has completely failed to protect the life and property of Muslims and other minority communities. Violence against Muslims is what many believe is institutionalised discrimination against the country’s largest minority group.
